The Network has been holding professional development retreats every two years between 1990 and 2012. These training activities, conducted by experienced specialists, have dealt with bilingual revision, tools for self-development, the concept and techniques of plain language, translation in advertising, legal translation, customer service, and information technology as a tool for translation.
Our last symposium took place October 18 to 20, 2012 at Concordia University, right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Concordia University’s Translation Services were very pleased to be associated with this event. Seasoned guest speakers discussed our role as professional language advisors and explained client relations pitfalls that should be avoided. Also on the program: project management, machine translation, post-editing, and the perfect toolbox for language professionals. This year, the NTE was breaking new ground by offering two workshops to students: one on terminology and social networks, and another on professional life.
