From the start, the NTE’s priority has been to encourage networking, facilitate mutual assistance among translators, and provide them with opportunities for professional development. We also consider it of paramount importance to reward and support those who will follow in our footsteps. Since 1990, we have therefore been offering scholarships to some of the best students entering the last year of a bachelor’s program at one of Canada’s translation schools.
This year, the NTE awarded scholarships to the following two students:
- Dara O’Connor, student at the School of Translation and Interpretation, University of Ottawa, in Ontario;
- Isabel Cyr, student in the Baccalauréat en traduction professionnelle (Département des lettres et communications), Université de Sherbrooke, in Quebec.
Both of them thanked us warmly. We are all very pleased to welcome them to the Network, and heartily invite them to take part in our exchanges.
The NTE takes pride in encouraging the new generations of translators to strive for excellence and to fulfill their professional dreams. The selection of recipients and the presentation of scholarships are carried out in cooperation with participating university departments.
